Oryx GTL Receives “World Quality Commitment
Award”
Oryx GTL Spreads Quality Culture
The
world's largest operating gas-to-liquids
(GTL) company - Oryx GTL, has yet again
proven its commitment to quality,
leadership, technology and innovation by
being honored with the “World Quality
Commitment Award” in the Gold category; thus
adding another distinguished award to its
credit.
The award was extended to Mr. Ahmed
Al-Muhannadi, Oryx GTL CFO, at the Business
Initiative Directions (B.I.D) International
Quality Convention 2009 held in Paris,
France.
Al Muhannadi proudly presented Oryx GTL
vision and values during the award ceremony
and highlighted its constant commitment to
Quality in ensuring stakeholder
satisfaction, sustainable development and
operational excellence. He said: “We aim to
be an integrated energy company globalizing
premium, environmentally friendly products.
We convert natural gas into high quality
ultra-clean GTL fuels including nearly
sulphur-free diesel, naphtha and liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG) for the global market.”
The award winners are decided on the basis
of commitment to the criteria of the QC100
TQM (Total Quality Management), the contents
of which serve as guidelines to business
leaders to improve processes and systems. It
helps those companies striving for
continuous quality improvement to achieve
their goals and set an example for the rest
of the business community.
The voting process was carried out during
the B.I.D World Congress with meetings in
Paris, London, Geneva, Frankfurt, Madrid and
Newyork over the past ten months, based on
one or several of the following concepts:
the QC100 principles, Customer satisfaction,
Leadership, Technology, Best Practice,
Business Results, ISO9000 and TQM.
The
basic steps to successfully implement a TQM
program in companies are: a quality driven
organization, a customer-minded approach,
job satisfaction, technological renewal,
system efficiency, leadership in society,
and concentration on the most profitable
areas of business.
For Jose E. Prieto, President of B.I.D, “the
awarded companies are symbols of commitment
to leadership, technology and innovation
which make them models for other companies
in their sectors.” The companies from 53
countries from Europe, America, Africa, Asia
and Oceania received International World
Quality Commitment Award as recognition of
their achievements in spreading Quality
Culture.
Back in February 18, 2008 Oryx GTL has
achieved simultaneous registration to ISO
9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and PAS 99 with
BSI Management Systems. The decision to
achieve certification was driven by the
desire of Oryx GTL's management to
continually reduce the safety and health
risks to employees, prevent pollution and
improve stakeholder satisfaction.
For Oryx GTL that has already achieved
certification in four management systems,
being awarded with the WQCA means expanding
strategies for quality management by
receiving the QC100 created to facilitate an
innovative tool to Directors of Quality.
About TQM QC100 model:
The TQM model is composed of three main
principles, as indicated in the name itself:
total- it involves all the processes and
bodies; Quality- excellence, innovation and
technology; Management- leadership,
planning, taking action.
The creation of the TQM QC 100 model is the
result of many years of dedication of
professionals, specialists in business
management, who have worked toward defining
the philosophy and the modern concept of
quality. Its purpose is to use concrete
terminology to transmit the ongoing
improvement which should take place in every
area of the company covering everything from
a “customer satisfaction culture” to
“business results awareness”.
