Oryx GTL Supports Qatar Red Crescent

Doha, 16 September 2009- As part of its social responsibility campaign Oryx GTL has made a donation to Qatar Red Crescent. The contibution is to finance the campaign “Gates of Goodness in Ramadan 1430 Hegria” along with other charity projects including Child Cardiac Operations and Eye operations.

Mr. Abdulhadi Baqan, Oryx GTL Public Relations Manager, presented a cheque from Oryx GTL to Mr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Qahtani, Fund Raising Dept. Manager, Qatar Red Crescent.

Mr. Abdulhadi Baqan said: “Oryx GTL contribution is among other activities made by the company in support of Qatari civil society organizations. It represents Oryx GTL social responsibility and commitment towards organizations that improve opportunities for people who live in the State of Qatar.”

During his visit to receive the donation, Ahmed Saleh Al-Qahtani thanked Oryx GTL for its support to the Red Crescent and appreciated the good intiative. He also extended his thanks to Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Suwaidi, Oryx GTL Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for his constant efforts to serve the Qatari community.

ORYX GTL is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP, 51%) and Sasol (49%) of South Africa, and is designed to produce ultra-clean GTL fuels including nearly sulphur-free diesel, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the global market. ORYX is the world's first commercial Low Temperature Slurry Phase Distillate™ (SPD) GTL facility.
